White’s Residential and Family Services will host their 11th Annual “Teeing Up for Teens” Golf Outing on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Etna Acres Golf Course.
The cost for a team of four is $500, or individuals can register for $125. A continental breakfast will be provided at 7:30 a.m. with a tee off time of 8:30 a.m., and Etna Acres will be serving their cheeseburgers for lunch at the end of play. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and best score. The team with the best score will receive the opportunity to come back to Etna Acres and play a round of golf for free.
This annual event began in 2011 as a 100-hole marathon in which participants would obtain sponsors for each hole. Typically, the funds raised from this event go toward extracurricular activities for the teens in the residential program. This year, WRFS is hoping for a total of 72 participants with a goal of raising $19,000 to refinish an existing basketball court into an additional sport court that will be safer, require less maintenance, and last longer.
“When we provide activities or upgrade basketball courts, we have an opportunity to share with [the students] the fact that people who have never met them want to show they care about and believe in them,” said Dana Brady, Director of Donor Relations. “It is so much easier to convince them they are loved by a God they cannot see if they are surrounded by gifts they can see. They have value. We know that. We want them to know it, as well.”
White’s Residential and Family Services and Etna Acres Golf Course have a unique connection. When Etna Acres was renovating their property from a 9-hole course to an 18-hole course, students from White’s residential program stepped in to help finish the project. Later, when WRFS was looking for a venue for its first golf outing, Etna Acres went out of their way to make it happen.
Those interested in registering can do so at whiteskids.org or by contacting Dana Brady at [email protected] or (260) 563-1158. We hope you will join us for a beautiful day of supporting our teens while enjoying the outdoors.
