On Monday, June 13, 2022, Josiah White’s hosted their 12th Annual “Teeing Up for Teens” Golf Outing at Etna Acres in Andrews, Ind. The purpose of the event was to raise funds to renovate a blacktop basketball court used by residential students into a more durable sport court that will be safer, require less maintenance, and last longer. A total of 17 teams participated, and the event raised a total of over $16,000, plus another $2,000 in matching funds that will be used to to reach their $21,000 goal. They anticipate exceeding their goal by the end of the week through additional donations that come in.
Several students from Josiah White’s residential program participated in the event by passing out water to players to keep them hydrated throughout the morning. While the golfers enjoyed lunch, Michael Baer shared his story of how his family was impacted through his father’s experience at Josiah White’s. The prizes awarded at the end of play included a gift certificate to Friermood Tire & Alignment in Wabash, a gift certificate to Auto Laundry in Wabash, two tickets to an ABBA tribute concert at the Honeywell Center, and a mini Tribal Fire Grill.
“We are so thankful for all those who came out to support improvements in our recreational programs at Josiah White’s! It was a beautiful day for a round of golf, and we enjoyed seeing everyone come together to enjoy fellowship and fun while making a tremendous impact for our students!” said Andy Stout, Director of Donor Relations.
