IOT
Intensive Outpatient Treatment consists of three hour segments of holistic treatment three days per week. Students within IOT participate for approximately 12 weeks during their time at Josiah White’s.

Art Intervention
We currently use art interventions with students participating in our substance use disorder recovery program (learn more about our TREC program). We use this method to help them process through the 12-steps of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Art interventions engage the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal processing.

Animal-Assisted Therapy
We utilize animal-assisted therapy to leverage the positive impact of interacting with animals to promote relaxation, reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance social engagement. This can assist in the treatment of mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by providing comfort, distraction, and a sense of connection that can facilitate therapeutic progress.

Music Therapy
Music Therapy provides a unique opportunity for expression in a safe, non-threatening atmosphere. Research has shown the benefits of music therapy for various mental health conditions, such as depression and trauma. Music is a platform for processing emotions, trauma, and grief, though it can also be utilized to regulate anxiety or other heavy emotions.

Horticultural Therapy
Horticultural therapy is the practice of using plants and plant-based activities to promote human healing and flourishing. Hort therapy has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improve memory and cognitive abilities, as well as increase socialization skills. Plants and plant-based activities are an ideal modality because plants are non-discriminating and non-threatening.
