Fathers Program

TEACHING CONNection
Empowering Families
We empower families to develop and demonstrate empathy, meet and maintain basic needs for living, manage resources, develop and maintain integrity, and understand their role in the community. To this end, partnerships are established to work toward the common goal of a healthy, functioning family. It is our firm belief that fathers are providers, protectors and nurturers with research clearly showing a link between a father’s involvement and positive lifelong outcomes for children.
Father Engagement, through Josiah White’s, engages and supports fathers whose children are involved with the Department of Child Services (DCS). As part of this service, fathers complete the 24/7 Dad program which builds self-awareness, self-care, fathering, parenting and relationship skills.

Model of Care
The National Fatherhood Initiative is an organization dedicated to helping fathers like you who want to connect more with their children. It has created two fantastic father resources, the 24/7 Dad AM and PM handbooks.
24/7 Dad AM
The AM handbook does not start out light but dives into your family history, helping you become stronger as a man in the role of a father. Alongside your Family Specialist, you’ll address one of the toughest parts of life, feelings, specifically increasing understanding on how to show and handle them.
You will then explore ideas for your health along with building communication skills specifically with your children. You’ll brainstorm ideas on how to maintain discipline within your family and what to look for in your children’s development. You’ll wrap up with learning some of the best ways to navigate the relationship with your children’s mother towards co-parenting.
24/7 Dad PM
The PM handbook will flex your fatherhood muscle, moving further into the difference between boyhood and manhood, challenging each of us to grow in maturity. In this book, alongside your Family Specialist, you will learn how to deal with anger, increase your knowledge of yourself, and build your self worth.
Once the foundation is laid, you will then move into exploring your family ties including the tough topics of sex, love and relationships, power and control. The program will wrap up by moving into how to further increase communication skills, reduce stress and substances and ultimately, how to increase your fun with your kids.
