Church Engagement
“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
Mark 9:37

At Josiah White’s, we are pleased to offer churches two opportunities to help youth and families.
Foster care is a system that provides temporary homes for children who are unable to live with their family of origin due to various circumstances such as abuse, neglect, or family crisis. Foster parents have the opportunity to provide these children with love, stability, and support during a crucial time in their lives.
Did you know that there are more than 9,000 children in the foster care system in Indiana, and ⅓ of these children will have to leave their home communities because there are not enough foster homes available?
Churches can help bring awareness to the need for more foster parents within their community. Josiah White’s has been working with church partners in foster care for 40 years.
Since 2020, Josiah White’s has been serving as the bridge between local congregations and families in need. CarePortal is an organized platform that allows case workers to communicate the needs of families in crisis to local churches and community members that want to help.
Caseworkers uncover the needs. Care Portal makes local churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond.
Josiah White’s is grateful for the 57 churches who are currently participating in CarePortal and meeting the needs of children and families around the state of Indiana.
