Foster Care Ministry

Why is it important for churches to engage in foster care ministry?

Families in our community are under attack. We know that the enemy seeks to destroy what God has ordained. We see it often in our own families, in our churches, and in our communities. In many ways, children are the most vulnerable to this attack.

Sometimes, children need a safe place for a while, and families need time to heal, grow, or put the pieces back together.

Mark 9:37 says, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.”

Every day, Christian families are opening up their homes; however, we still have to say no to 100 kids every week. There is a shortage of foster homes in every community, and over ⅓ of children in foster care have to leave their home community.

The local church is the answer to the foster care crisis. Foster care is an opportunity for Christians to share Christ’s love with their local community within their own home. When children in foster care are welcomed into a Christian home, not only are they loved and cared for, but they also have the opportunity to learn about Jesus.

Your church can be part of the solution.

If every church in Indiana had one foster family, there would be more than enough foster homes.

Many families in our community are in crisis, and the body of Christ is called to show compassion. Beyond caring for a foster child, Christian foster parents can share the love of Christ with the children in their home and their biological family, creating an eternal impact.

Josiah White’s wants to partner with your church to share the need for Christian foster parents and equip you to support foster families in your congregation.
