Last month, members of Josiah White’s Family Services team had the opportunity to attend the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) Summit in Nashville, TN. Vice President & Executive Director of Family Services Kurt Gard, Regional Manager Dave Kristofzski, Foster Care Advocates Nicole Roberts and Rachel Reames, Family Preservation Therapist Brent Kirby, and Family Specialist Thomas Wood all attended and participated in breakout sessions on various topics including trauma, reunification, and church engagement.
CAFO seeks to bring together, inspire, and equip Christian organizations and individuals that desire to effectively live out the Bible’s call to care for orphans and vulnerable children. The theme for this year’s conference was “Becoming”, and speakers included Jason Johnson, Jamie Finn, Curt Thompson, and Bishop Martin, the man that sparked the movement in Possum Trot, Texas that the movie “A Sound of Hope” was inspired by.
“During the general session, this room of 2400 people, from all over the world, who are all doing the work of helping vulnerable children, was filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit,” said Nicole Roberts, Josiah White’s Foster Care Advocate. “I am forever thankful for the team I serve under and the opportunities they give me to grow in my faith and in this field.”
Josiah White’s is so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this conference, and the team is eager to put what they learned into practice!
