Students in Josiah White’s Residential programs have begun training for a 5K walk/run that will take place on the Wabash campus on Friday, September 29th, 2023.
Students will be preparing for the event over the next few months by participating in training a few times a week. These training sessions provide students with regular, structured opportunities for physical activity, which is a very important contributor to success in recovery from both behavioral and substance abuse issues. Similar to years past, students’ families and probation officers will be invited to come to the 5K to cheer the students on, or even participate themselves.
“Throughout the training process, our students learn the value of goal setting, perseverance, and giving/receiving encouragement. For many, the Josiah White’s 5K is their first experience with meeting a physical fitness goal, and they are able to do so surrounded by their family members and other key supporters,” said Josh Bowyer, VP of Residential Services.
Josiah White’s is excited to offer this opportunity to the students in our residential programs as they continue to work toward healthy second chances for their futures!
