Second Chance Series
No Single Moment Defines an Entire Story.
Everyone has a second chance story. When were you given a second chance? When did you extend one to someone else?
Our belief in second chances comes from the grace and redemption God extends to every one of us. It’s a reminder that no one walks alone and no single moment defines an entire story.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32
At Josiah White’s, healthy second chances happen every single day.
- A residential student taking the first step toward healing.
- A family preservation therapist offering support right at a family’s doorstep.
- A child in foster care finding safety and love in a foster home.
In 2026, our Second Chance Series celebrates real, meaningful moments shared by people in our community: when a fresh start marked the beginning of a new chapter that changed everything.
Jess Hopkins
Jess Hopkins, Regional Sales Manager at First Merchants Bank, shares what second chances mean to her.
“Nobody’s perfect, and we all fall short of the glory. We need to practice a little bit more forgiveness and openness to be able to move forward in a positive way.”
Andrea Silvers
Andrea Silvers, Vice President of Business Development & Partnerships at Algebrik AI, shares what she’s learned about second chances.
“I’ve learned that a second chance can change the entire course of a life. None of us are defined by our worst decisions, especially young people carrying trauma and trying to navigate a world they weren’t prepared for.
When we offer grace, guidance, and a healthy second chance, we give someone the opportunity to discover who they were meant to be, not who their pain made them believe they were.”
Ryan & Olivia Fish
Ryan & Olivia Fish, Josiah White’s Foster parents, share their family testimony of offering second chances through foster care ministry.
“When we first got married, we were not sure if we would be able to start a family of our own.
We decided to become foster parents with Josiah White’s to bring a second chance to child in need of a home. It’s given us an opportunity to be parents and the kids in our home to have a life that is consistent and safe.
Through this journey, we’ve also had a successful IVF transfer that gave us a biological child of our own.”
