Josiah White’s will host their 12th Annual Teeing Up for Teens Golf Outing on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Etna Acres Golf Course.
The cost for a team of four is $500, or individuals can register for $125. Donuts and coffee will be provided at 7:30 a.m. with a tee-off time of 8:15 a.m., and lunch will be served at the end of play. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and best score.
This annual event began in 2011 as a 100-hole marathon in which participants would obtain sponsors for each hole. Typically, the funds raised from this event go toward extracurricular activities for the teens in the residential program. This year, Josiah White’s is hoping for their largest turnout yet and has a goal of raising $21,000 to refinish an existing basketball court into a sport court that will be safer, require less maintenance, and last longer.
“From 18 golfers in a 100-hole marathon in 2011, to 82 golfers in a Best Ball Scramble in 2021, our purpose has remained the same.” said Dana Brady, Director of Development, who started the event in 2011. “Some of the people, prizes, projects, and methods have changed, however, the ultimate purpose to bless the lives of the students at Josiah White’s in a variety of ways is still our focus. This event has funded things like field trips, sports equipment, updated weight and exercise equipment, and most recently, upgrading the basketball courts outside of the students’ homes. In the last decade, three things have not changed: generous individuals and businesses have continued to support the event, the lives of our students have been enriched, and we have had a lot of fun.”
Those interested in registering a foursome can do so at josiahwhites.org/events. Businesses and organizations are also invited to sponsor the event. Contact becca.andrews@whitesrfs.org for more info on sponsorship opportunities.
We hope you will join us for a fun day of supporting Josiah White’s Residential students while enjoying the outdoors!
