White’s Residential & Family Services has received a $100,000 grant from the Don Wood Foundation of Columbia City, Indiana. The grant is to be used to continue to expand White’s Residential vocational and workforce development program, Growing Teens for Life, through the upcoming Catapult Training System in partnership with Conexus Indiana.
“The Don Wood Foundation is pleased to partner with White’s Residential and Family Services,” said Laura Macknick, Executive Director of the Don Wood Foundation. “Our Trustees awarded a charitable grant to the Growing Teens for Life program so that the youth engaged in this initiative may find interest in advanced manufacturing. The partnership between White’s and Conexus further demonstrates a commitment to accelerating opportunities for these teens to potentially find career options in our regional manufacturing ecosystem.”
The Don Wood Foundation is committed to growing and strengthening the manufacturing sector in the Midwest region, and their specific focus on industrial-based education and training aligned well with White’s new Catapult program, which equips students in White’s residential programs with the skills they will need to take their places in this fast growing, highly competitive economy through hands-on work experience and the opportunity to earn vocational certifications in advanced manufacturing and logistics.
“The students at White’s are so grateful for the investment of resources to help set up this valuable new sector of our vocational training program,” said Shane Whybrew, Director of Donor Stewardship. “We wouldn’t exist without the advocacy and support of organizations just like the Don Wood Foundation who value Indiana’s future workforce. Again, on behalf of the students we get to serve, ‘Thank you!’”
